Game Update: 3 August 2003 - Barnsley Strikers - v - Glasgow Stars
Final game score: Barnsley Strikers 4 - Glasgow Stars 21 Starting pitcher was: Chris Hewitt (Barnsley Strikers). Game Update: 27 July 2003 - Barnsley Strikers - v - Sheffield Bladerunners
Too tired to do a report just yet. Got too many things to alter on here first... Thanks to Sheffield for two good close games. It was nice to same Damo getting some outs. Well he must have had a rush of blood when he made 3 outs in one inning. A mention has to go to Richard Hill (unofficial team mascot) for a great triple. Well, double and an error (our scorers harsh!). He made it round to 3rd base no quicker than an electric powered Stannah stair lift. Another Banrsley Strikers memorable moment. Thanks to Damo for putting in some work on the line up and subs data. All he has to do now is learn HTML to make my life easier. Game One
Final game score: Barnsley Strikers 20 - Sheffield Bladerunners 26 Starting pitcher was: Chris Hewitt (Barnsley Strikers). Game Two
Final game score: Barnsley Strikers 11 - Sheffield Bladerunners 10 Starting pitcher was: Alan Bowers (Barnsley Strikers). Man of the Match Results Game Update: 20 July 2003 - Barnsley Strikers - v - Manchester Express I have to say it. It was a damn good game throughout. All I have to do now is wait for Damo to fill me in on the game report.. the snake!!!

Bowers Game Update: 15 June 2003 - Barnsley Strikers - v - Manchester A's Thanks to Manchester A's for re-establishing the great game of Baseball. The 1st base man honesty was a great example of fair gamesmanship. Thank you from all of us. The game started slowly for the Strikers allowing the A's to score 4 runs in the 1st innings. Barnsley, scoring nothing were certainly making it difficult for themselves from the off. (Nothing new there!). Maybe it had something to do with the managers of the day, Damien Kilkenny (Main culprit) and Chris Hunton (seconder to the motion!). The Strikers choose to move players around. With regular catcher basking in the hot sun of England!! It didn't leave much else. Chris Hunton moved into catch. 3rd base was occupied by Nigel Whitehead. Short-Stop Daimen Kilkenny moved into a more suitable centre field (as he had little to do - well, made one easy play all day!). Nicky Plummer in at Short-Stop. The Strikers fought back scoring the majority of their runs in one inning... and for the life of me I can't remember exactly when that. The after game celebration scroched too many brain cells. If recollection servers me right Tony Allott (The Steals king) secured 3 at bats in one inning. For the oldest player on the team he made every one jealous at his stealth like move on stealing bases. Blink and you'd swear he never moved. Way to go Speedy Zimmer Man. A new found batterwas seen when Richard Hill changed to right handed hitting (after Kris Allott had told him to) making solid contact and easing the score upwards. The highlight of the day (only cos the sun reflects so brightly off white skin) was the new team mascot, clad only a jockstrap decided to jog down the field. (see picture above for an idea!) I never thought we had a 7th inning stretch in our league. I'm just glad I wasn't batting. Please excuse the rather relaxed game report. The person who normally helps and compiles the stats is dragging his feet. So, this will hopefully teach him to pull his finger out. Damo, pull your finger out or your girlfriend gets it...........
You have been warned!! LOL Final game score: Barnsley Strikers 27 - Manchester A's 15 Starting pitcher was: C Hewitt (Barnsley Strikers).

Scorer for both games: Jonathan Mallaghan Man of the Match Results Game Update: 8 June 2003 - Barnsley Strikers - v - Shropshire Pumas The day started well with a nice view of Venice Beach (2 mounds and a nice valley). The weather was overcast and promising to ruin a the day. It didn't disappoint when the heavens open shortly after the game had commenced. We've come to expect nothing short of a monsoon whenever it rains and there was no disappointment. Both teams had made there mark scoring 3 runs in the 1st. With no team scoring in the 2nd it was looking like it was going to be close to the end. The 3rd inning showed some good batting and rallying to score and take them into the lead. Barnsley's defence held firm with a great double play and only 2 errors all game. Chris Hewitt (pitcher) knocked up 10 strikeouts during the game with the batting order struck out in the 5th. Strikers Offence was showing good signs of improvement with good batting and base running all round. Nigel Whitehead volunteering himself for sub was hitting 3-4 with 1 walk, scored 3 runs and made 1 RBI. Daniel Sutcliffe hitting 3-4 and 1 walk, scored 3 runs and made 4 RBI's. 3 RBI's coming from a great hit getting him round to second. The Strikers are hoping his new found skill remains the rest of the season. The game ended 26-6 to the Strikers, called in the 7th. Thanks to the Pumas for making it to the field and making a good game. Final game score: Barnsley Strikers 26 - Shropshire Pumas 6 Starting pitcher was: C Hewitt(Barnsley Strikers).
Scorer: Jonathan Mallaghan Man of the Match Results Game Update: 1 June 2003 - Barnsley Strikers - v - Shropshire Panthers The temperature was high. The sun was hot and the sky was blue. That's about the best bit about the day. We've all seen what contractors do to our roads but they really should drop by the Panthers playing field. I use the word field because that is what we lead to believe we are playing on. In reality it's the best bit of road "chippings" I've ever seen and the only thing that was missing was the heavy excavation machinery normally parked up by the roadside. Then again a nuclear detonation wouldn't make a dent in the hardcore surface. The sun shone!!!! Location, location, location that's what the TV program tells us. Well, the left field fence was ideally located close to the infield, the bases were placed on there spot and that were they should've stayed. Or so you would think. No Nails would have proven exceptionally useful as the bases had a tendency to slide away but only when runners were brave enough to slide in and risk a cheese grater gravel rash that would scar a rhino hind. The bases did their job even in the light of a certain insecurity. The potential fear of losing your ability to father children didn't disway the strikers from making key stretches on the 1st base outs but it was Tony Allott and the idea of another Kris Allott in the world is enough to dry up Niagara Falls. Game One Final game score: Barnsley Strikers 3 - Shropshire Panthers 13 (called after the fifth) Starting pitcher was: D Kilkenny (Barnsley Strikers).
Game Two
This bit is worth a few moments of any one's time. History was broken during the second game when a player was ejected. Why? I hear you ask. Well, it wasn't for the stand up double and 3 RBI hit but rather the lack of bat control after the ball cruised out of the infield. The batter, Chris Hunton, swung aggressively, made solid contact, released the bat and headed to 1st base not knowing that the bat had dropped and made contact with the umpire and catcher. This being his second infraction of the game the player was ejected. Further details may follow. With thanks to Damien for taking this footage. If you wish to keep the file please right click the image and select "Save Target As..." Final game score: Barnsley Strikers 8 - Shropshire Panthers 14 Starting pitcher was: K Allott (Barnsley Strikers).
